Krauss sees action

Patrick Henry graduate Marc Krauss got his first taste of life in the Major Leagues when he played in the Arizona Diamondbacks' 13-5 win over Seattle in a spring training game Monday.

Krauss saw action in leftfield and went 0 for 1 at the plate with a walk and a strikeout.

It's Krauss' second season in professional baseball after being drafted No. 64 pick in the second round of last year's amateur draft.

The 6-foot-3, 235-pound former Ohio University standout played 32 games with South Bend, Ind. of the Class A Midwest League before his rookie season was cut short with injuries. The 22-year-old hit .304 with two home runs and 17 RBI for South Bend.

Arcadia graduate Jerry Blevins, in his fourth season with the Oakland Athletics, has struggled in spring training.

The 6-foot-6 lefty has appeared in five games allowing six earned runs on seven hits in 52/3 innings. He's walked one batter and struck out four.

For his career, Blevins has made 62 appearances, all in relief and has a 1-4 record with a 4.18 ERA.
