An Alvada Farm couple has won $5,000 for two Findlay Charities. Robert and Debra Christy of Alvada have been selected as winners in America's Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund. Grow Communities gives farmers the opportunity to win a $2,500 donation to their favorite local charity. Due to a provision that supports drought-stricken counties, the prize money was doubled allowing the Christy's to select City Mission and Open Arms to each receive a $2,500 donation.
Robert and Debra Christy, representatives from City Mission, Open Arms and Monsanto will participate in a check presentation ceremony at City Mission, Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
