Bluffton School Board Unhappy With Voucher Proposals

Tuesday, March 19, 2013 - 5:30 AM

A plan by the state to expand a voucher program is not sitting well with area school districts. At last night's Bluffton School Board meeting, the group took action against the proposal. The Courier reports the board approved a resolution speaking out against Governor John Kasich's budget proposal, expressing "opposition to any legislation that seeks to transfer public dollars to support private education."

There are already vouchers available to students in under performing districts. If the program is expanded it would eliminate that requirement, and would also allow students to move between districts that don't make progress on the Third Grade Reading Guarantee.
