Safe Ride Home Helps Make Weekend Safe On Roadways

Thursday, March 21, 2013                                 5:15 AM

St. Patrick's Day weekend was a relatively safe one in the area. Local law enforcement reported no serious traffic accidents involving alcohol on Sunday according to the Courier. The use of designated drivers and the Safe Ride Home program could be a reason. Safe Ride Home gave 89 people free rides home from parties and taverns, down from 125 the year before. Sergeant Mike Cortez with the Hancock County Sheriff's Office and president of Safe Ride Home said there were no OVI arrests last Sunday.
