Load Up With Calories Packed With Nutrients

Nutrition experts are reminding the public that if you are going to load up on calories, make sure they are not empty calories..

Wellness Dietitian expert Gina Haggard, from Blanchard Valley Health System, was a guest on WFIN@Ten and said dark green and dark blue fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals. Haggard pointed out that there are breads, cereals and other food products made from grains which do not raise your blood sugar like conventional wheat flour..

You should also watch your juice intake which can be loaded with calories because of added sugars. Opting to eat an orange once in a while rather than have orange juice or eat an apple rather than drink apple juice is better because the body works harder to digest the fiber.
