Findlay Begins Look Into Future With Five-Year Capital Plan

Service Safety Director Paul Schmelzer laid out a five-year Capital Improvement Plan before city council's appropriations committee as the city tries to get a clearer picture of the cost of maintaining and improving infrastructure and identifying potential funding sources..

The new five-year plan, according to Schmelzer, would be more of a tool to measure the long-term implications of funding a capital project..

The capital plan will be tied into a five-year forecasting model for other city funds and will show city officials how major money-related decisions affect other government operations. The appropriations committee voted to recommend adoption of the five-year plan and will be presented at the April 16 city council meeting.
