Oakwoods Nature Preserve May Expand Again

Wednesday, April 10, 2013 - 5:13 AM

It looks like a Hancock County park could be growing again this year - if the Hancock Park District can get a grant to foot the bill. According to the Courier the board is looking to buy an additional 10 acres next to the Oakwoods Nature Preserve on Findlay's west side. The property is already surrounded by the preserve and is valued at $191,600. Parks Director Gary Pruitt will try to get a Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Fund grant to pay for the land. Pruitt says the property could be used for habitat, a children's garden and natural play area or playground.
