Council Votes To Lay Off Eleven Instead Of Twenty

Findlay City Council voted to layoff eleven firefighters instead of 20 and keep Fire Station #4 on County Road 236 open, at least temporarily..

Mayor Lydia Mihalik said a close eye will be kept on the revenue stream, which she feels is improving and negotiations with the city's three unions will play a big factor on whether the city will be able to sustain current staffing levels. Findlay firefighter and Local 381 representative Matt Cooper reacted to council's action..

Council deliberated in executive session nearly an hour on the issue. Firefighters, their families and supporters packed council chambers Tuesday night.
