Memorial Service Honors Fallen Law Enforcement Officers

The annual Hancock County Law Enforcement Memorial Service was held Monday evening in honor of National Police Week. The service honors those local Law Enforcement Officers who lost their lives in the line of duty..

Marcele Baldridge was the guest speaker this year. She is the mother of fallen Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Andrew Baldridge who lost his life when his patrol car overturned causing fatal injuries in 2010. He was only 25. Mrs. Baldridge said that Andrew was inspired by an older brother and an uncle who were police officers and she has always been worried about them, but she also knew that's what they wanted to do..

Last year 120 officers were killed in the line of duty in the U.S. Two officers and two K9's were from the State of Ohio. So far this year there have been 41 officers killed in the line of duty in the U.S., none, so far, from Ohio.
