Flood Control Amendment Given Thumbs Up

Wednesday, May 15, 2013 - 5:22 AM

An amendment designed to speed up funding for flood control projects, like the one for the Blanchard River, was passed by the U.S. Senate Tuesday. The amendment to the Water Resources Development Act would make sure projects are eligible for federal construction funds as soon as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Chief of Engineer's report is completed and Senate approves. Both Ohio Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman were in favor of the amendment.

Without the amendment, the Blanchard River project would not be eligible to receive federal construction funds until the Water Resources Development Act's next authorization.
