Flood Damaged Downtown Buildings To Be Razed

Friday, June 21, 2013                                       4:25 AM

The Hancock County Commissioners cleared the way for demolition of the flood prone buildings just north of the river in downtown Findlay. An agreement with the Ohio Historical Preservation Office was signed by the commissioners during their Thursday meeting. Hancock County Engineer's Office Project Manager, Steve Wilson will hand deliver the document to the preservation office today. The buildings in the 100 block of N. Main St. were bought by the Northwest Ohio Flood Mitigation Partnership following the 2007 flood but demolition was prohibited because the buildings were located within Findlay's Downtown Historical District. City officials signed the agreement Wednesday. Demolition is expected in late July or early August.
